ENGINEERING SERVICE

Software shaped around how your business actually works

When off-the-shelf tools force you to change your process, the cheaper option stops being cheap. We build the system your operation deserves — and hand it over documented.

CAPABILITIES

What custom software covers here

End-to-end product engineering, from the first architecture decision through to the operational handover.

Internal platforms

Operations consoles, admin systems, and workflow tools that replace the spreadsheet-and-email process holding the business together.

Customer-facing products

Portals, marketplaces, and SaaS applications built to carry real load and real money from day one.

Systems integration

ERP, CRM, payment, and logistics systems wired together with reconciliation and retry logic that assumes failure.

Domain modelling

We model your actual business rules once, properly, so the software encodes the process instead of fighting it.

Security and audit trails

Role-based access, immutable audit logs, and data handling that stands up to a customer security review.

AI where it earns its place

Extraction, classification, search, and assistive flows added where they remove manual work — not because the category is fashionable.

HOW WE ENGAGE

From a messy process to software you own

Four phases that get working software in front of users early and keep scope honest.

01

Discovery and domain mapping

We sit with the people doing the work, map the real process including the exceptions, and write down what the system must never get wrong.

02

Architecture and a thin slice

One end-to-end path built through every layer within weeks, which proves the architecture before the bulk of the budget is committed.

03

Iterative build

Two-week increments with real users on a staging environment, prioritised by which manual work disappears next.

04

Rollout and handover

Data migration, staged cutover, runbooks, and a codebase your team or your next vendor can pick up without us.

TECHNOLOGY

The stack we build on

Boring, well-supported technology chosen so the system is still maintainable in five years.

USE CASES

When building beats buying

Custom is not always right. These are the situations where it clearly is.

↗

Your process is the advantage

When how you operate is what differentiates you, configuring a generic tool to imitate it costs more than building it.

↗

Licence costs have outgrown the build

Per-seat pricing that scales with headcount often passes the cost of owning the software within two or three years.

↗

The integration is the product

Work that lives between four systems none of which will ever be the system of record.

↗

Spreadsheets are the system of record

A critical process running on shared files, with no audit trail, no validation, and one person who understands it.

BUSINESS IMPACT

Outcomes operators can measure

Custom software should show up in hours saved and errors avoided, not just in a launch announcement.

01

Manual work removed

We baseline the hours a process consumes before we start, then measure the same number after each release.

02

Fewer costly errors

Validation and workflow rules in the software catch the mistakes that reconciliation currently catches weeks later.

03

An asset, not a subscription

You own the code, the data, and the roadmap, with no per-seat pricing between you and growth.

04

Faster onboarding

A system that mirrors the actual process is learnable in days, which shortens ramp time for every new hire.

WHY ZIKOSOFT

Why teams choose us for custom software

Senior engineers who have inherited enough bad systems to know how they get that way.

✓

We will talk you out of it

If a configured off-the-shelf product genuinely fits, we say so in discovery. The engagements we take are the ones that should exist.

✓

Built for the next team

Readable code, real documentation, and conventional patterns, because someone else will maintain this after us.

✓

Scope held honest

Every increment ships something usable, so you can stop when the value curve flattens rather than at the end of a plan.

✓

No lock-in by design

Standard technology, your infrastructure accounts, and a handover package that makes leaving us straightforward.

FAQ

Questions operators ask us first

Cost, timelines, ownership, and what happens when the project ends.

How do you price a custom build?
Discovery is a fixed fee and produces an architecture, a phased plan, and a range. Delivery then runs either fixed-scope per phase or as a dedicated team, depending on how stable the requirements are.
How long before we see something working?
A thin end-to-end slice is usually running in four to six weeks. That is deliberately early, because architecture assumptions are cheapest to correct then.
Who owns the code and the data?
You do, from the first commit. Repositories and cloud accounts are yours, and we work inside them rather than handing something over at the end.
What happens after launch?
Either your team takes it, with pairing and documentation during the last phase, or we stay on a smaller retained engagement. Both are planned before delivery ends, not improvised after.
Can you work with our existing systems?
Almost always. Integration with existing ERP, CRM, and finance systems is a normal part of the scope, including the awkward legacy ones.

Outgrown the tools you are paying for?

Book a discovery session and we will map your process and tell you honestly whether building is the right move.
